My Wardrobe Essentials: Winter 2023/24
Who said basics can't be stylish or exciting? They're pretty much all I wear.. SO, here are my wardrobe essentials from this past winter season to help you build an elevated, everyday outfit.
Let’s start at my favorite part: DENIM.
These Agolde Jeans have been a sneaky winner for me this season. If you have wider hips and thighs, these are such a nice fit – which is rare to find. The dramatic flare also adds an elevated silhouette to a more mundane outfit, which tends to be my go-to anyways.
The GRLFRND Bella Jean is a closet staple for me, I probably own 3-4 washes in the same style… they’re that good. But specifically this rinsed dark wash is perfect for the winter season, making it easy to elevate any outfit and flexible to dress up or down, which we love.
The perfect T-SHIRT can be so hard to find.
I’m so embarrassed to say my favorite T-Shirt that I’ve found is from Brandy Melville – which is not size inclusive and generally not a brand I love to promote. However, I’ve tried so many tees on the market and I still go back to this one. I haven’t given up yet though, I’ll keep you updated if I find something new.
These Intimissimi tops, though, are something I will talk about forever. Such a comfortable and perfect fit, and another one that can be dressed up or down. The only caveat is that they don’t ship to Canada – so I’ve been stocking up when travelling to the US or Europe – not ideal but a girls gotta eat!
The TNA Butter Tank is maybe one of my most worn items EVER. From hot girl walks to layering under a big knit sweater, these tanks are so versatile and comfy I always gravitate towards them. I originally bought the blush color and immediately went online to order two more colors, and I’m so glad I did.
I’ve also found myself gravitating towards a looser/boxier t-shirt over the last season. I found this one in my Dad’s closet and stole it lol. I’m not 100% sure this is the exact one but I know it’s a Men’s T-Shirt from KOTN and it looks very similar. Sometimes I just have days where I don’t want to feel clothes touching my body, and this tee is perfect for that moment.
Don’t we all love KNITS in the winter..
If this L’Academie Knit didn’t exist this past winter, I really don’t know what I would’ve done - I wore it so much. I’m a girl with temperate issues, so this knit was so cozy and warm while having an elevated silhouette, which is my favorite combo. If you’re looking to invest in some great elevated basics - L’Academie has been one of my favorite brands the past few years.
You’ve definitely seen this Sezane Cardigan literally everywhere but I have to admit it’s for a good reason. I have two colors and wear them both SO much. I’ve appreciated wearing more cardigans this past winter for an added layer but still something that can show off your full outfit with the open front. She’ll be coming with me into the spring for sure..
Winter is so much easier with a cute COAT.
I’ve had my eye on this North Face Puffer for probably over 3 years because it’s quite an investment (p.s. I found mine at Urban Outfitters on sale). My only complaint is that I wish I bought it sooner because I’ve worn it so much since I got it. She’s super light but very warm, and I love the shape/length with the adjustable waist. She’s perfect - that’s all!
On my dressier days, this Ever New Coat has been my go-to. I love the silhouette the belt gives and appreciate that it’s not another black coat (like the rest of my closet). I also think it’s a great price point for a winter wool coat, but still great quality and will be timeless from year to year.
Let’s talk SNEAKERS.
If you’re reading this then you probably know how I feel about sneakers… especially Vans, and these ones have been perfect for the winter. I typically like to mix feminine and masculine tones, so these often help bring in a more masculine/skater/alternative element to my everyday outfits. The fur lining also helps a bit during the winter months!
ACCESSORIES shine in the winter time.
I knew this year I wanted to invest in some more colorful accessories because I’m often wearing a big black or grey coat every day, which is why I love this scarf from Aritzia. It adds the perfect pop of color and is also a feminine element to include in my sometimes more masculine-heavy outfits.
I’m big on having a comfortable, perfect-fitting toque. This Arcteryx one is no stranger to you, you’ve probably seen it everywhere already, but definitely for good reason because this toque is a lifetime favorite. I will be searching for more colors for next year.
Another easy add to a basic outfit is a belt. This one from Lovers and Friends isn’t necessarily crazy unique but I like the added loop detail to add an extra element. But I would say any fun belt can help elevate any outfit - I would suggest buying vintage if you have the time, they’re always better quality and way more unique.
That’s really it! Amongst all of this is a theme of a great fitting piece, with an elevated silhouette - if you can find that, you’re golden (in my opinion). Being stylish doesn’t have to mean being trendy or loud with your outfits - it really just means being yourself and wearing what makes you feel confident... Have fun :)
